Resources from the bowl are the key to a sustainable regional circular economy. With this approach, the research consortium "Region.innovativ - zirkulierBAR", funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Science, has embarked on a three-year research journey. The vision is to recover nutrients from consumed food such as phosphorus and nitrogen, put them back into circulation and thus return them to agriculture. ZirkulierBAR is therefore building an innovative and scalable recycling plant for the cycle-oriented treatment of contents from dry toilets together with Kreiswerke Barnim. The end products are harmless to health, rich in nutrients, and low in pollutants.Municipalities can thus plan and set up a water-saving and resource-conserving alternative to linear water-dependent sewage treatment systems. mfm-menschen für medien agency from Berlin is a consortium member and responsible for external communications.
