Dear Sir or Madam,
Nanotechnology is emerging as one of the quiet yet crucial drivers of innovation in the global economy, and particularly in the food industry.
In Germany, nanotechnology remains a niche topic in the media, despite three nanotechnology action plans launched by the federal government between 2006 and 2020, and despite the fact that Germany holds a leading position in nanotechnology within Europe.
Yet we now use nanotechnology as a matter of course in our everyday lives. From sunscreen to the lipid carriers used in mRNA vaccines. But it’s also used in food: for example, nanotechnology helps preserve food or acts as an anti-caking agent to prevent salt from clumping in the package. When used in packaging, silver ions block oxygen and inhibit bacteria, keeping food fresh longer.
Under the title “Nano Meets Food – Innovations for the Food Industry”, the Global Food Summit, in collaboration with the Bavarian Nutrition Cluster, the Bavarian Nanotechnology Cluster, and the Perikles Project Aufklärung 4.0 e.V., will host the Nanotechnology Conference on October 19, 2026, in Munich at the Alte Kongresshalle.
